ABOUT ANDY

Andy Perez is a huge fan of pretzel buns, puppets, and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. When he’s not behind the camera, you can find Andy at the movie theater, keeping his Letterboxd lists up-to-date. If not, he's probably enjoying a Spicy Potato Soft Taco from Taco Bell. Or maybe he's doing both, at the same time.

Here are Andy's 2023 and 2024 movie rankings (so far).

Andy’s creative journey began in theatre, where he studied Comedy Writing & Performance at The Second City and performed professionally across the Midwest. He soon transitioned to administrative and production roles with acclaimed ensembles like The Gift Theatre, St. Louis Shakespeare and West End Players Guild. These early experiences built his foundations in creation and storytelling and honed his production and leadership skills, inspiring him to write, produce and direct his own comedy and theatre performances throughout St. Louis, Chicago and Spain.
When the pandemic disrupted the live performance world, Andy was kickstarting his journey into video production, quickly building a diverse portfolio. He worked as a freelance editor and producer for WhatCulture and CN Video Production, crafting everything from sleek corporate ads for credit unions to goofy social media hits like 10 Celebs Who Dated WWE Superstars. Odd jobs led to odder opportunities, and Andy found himself with 411Mania, directing/co-producing Squared Circle Spotlight, a documentary short surrounding olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle's drug addiction and firing from WWE, which gained recognition from famed wrestling journalists Dave Meltzer and Chris Van Vliet.
Andy’s passion for factual storytelling took him to Barcelona, where he joined Otoxo Productions. There, he co-directed and edited multilingual social impact documentaries that went on to be featured in The Guardian and El País, platforming social movements and amplifying the voices of underrepresented communities. During his stint in Europe, he also crashed a comedy show with a wrestling match, managed international TV and cinema deliveries for doc distributor Limonero Films, and directed commercial content for GBSB Global, Origo Bakery and Sheffield DocFest.
Returning to the U.S., Andy collaborated with Emmy-winning production company StoryTrack, editing award-winning video content, including a campaign that earned the Communicator Award of Excellence for a social media series. He then joined Vat19 - YouTube's 2nd largest e-commerce brand - as Video Director/Producer, overseeing the production of 150+ videos that generated 200+ million views and brought in 1.3 million new subscribers in 2023. In this role, Andy immersed himself in the intricacies of social media video production, leading teams through ideation, on-set production, and editing. Collaborating with brands like Mars Candy, Paramount, and Hello Fresh, he gained a deep understanding of crafting videos that resonate with audiences across digital platforms.
Andy’s career reflects a unique blend of creative ingenuity, technical expertise, and cross-cultural experience. Whether producing viral video campaigns, directing socially conscious documentaries, or mentoring the next generation of filmmakers, Andy brings passion and vision to every frame.
